Banerjee family had once been a rich zamindari family in Bengal, but with the parition of it, the members had to flee to India. The family was then headed by Shiv Das Banerjee. The landed up in Salkia, Howrah, (where the now live) where they received a plot of land to build their home. After the death of Shivdas Banerjee, Kalipada Banerjee and his wife Jyotirmoyee Banerjee came to power. They had 5 sons and 2 daughters and peace reigned the house. After their death, the next heir was Kashinath Banerjee, the brother of Kalipada Banerjee, and thus he was now the head of the family. He began to rule along with his wife Sujata Banerjee and continues to do so till this day. Thus continues the wonerful legacy of the family. A wonderful image of a perfect joint family.

Sujata Banerjee (born: 11th January)

Sujata Banerjee is the female representative of the family. Unlike her husband, Sujata loves to talk and through her long talks she secretly lets out great words of wisdom. She is the court jester of the family. Unlike other wise, old and formidable grandmothers, she loves to hang out with her grandchildren. She is 'in' with the times and is a great favourite of all. Known as 'Ampi-ma' to her grandchildren, she is married to Kashinath Banerjee.
